How Customize.cz AI personalization works

AI e‑shop personalization by Customize.cz means that the content of recommendation boxes and e‑mails is assembled separately for each customer – based on what they browse, what is in their basket and what they bought before. The selection happens in real time on every page view.

Four steps from feed to box

  1. Product data

The source is a product XML feed that you may already have for Heureka, Zbozi.cz or another comparison service. It is extended with a few optional fields: margin, a promotion flag, a deeper category tree and free fields (e.g. a discount code). We import the feed regularly; the more often you update it, the more accurate the recommendations. Stores whose prices and stock change often also send a light availability feed. A transaction feed with order history enables personal recommendations and personalized e‑mail.

  2. Behaviour tracking

One asynchronous script on your store pages tells us which product or category the customer is viewing, what is in the basket and what was ordered. The customer is tracked under an anonymous identifier; after login you can pass the customer ID from your system so that history from several devices is linked.

A store can be connected in four ways: a JavaScript snippet added to the template, Google Tag Manager, the REST API, or a point-and-click wizard that needs no IT work. You pick the one that suits your store.

  3. Real‑time product selection

Each box has a logic and a position set. The logics: related (complementary) products, alternative (similar) products, recently viewed products that are not in the basket, recent alternatives, best‑selling and most popular products, and a personal selection from the customer's history. The selection takes into account availability, price and price group, margin, promotional items and items with a discount code. Products already in the basket are excluded. See the overview of logics on the recommendation boxes page.

  4. Display and measurement

The box renders in an element in your template, in your own style; we manage the box HTML template in the administration. Every impression, click, add‑to‑basket and order is recorded. This produces statistics and the basis for invoicing under the pricing model.

What we need from you

  • a product XML feed (URL),
  • access to the template or someone who can add the script (or access to Google Tag Manager; when connecting through the wizard, no template change is needed),
  • a contact at the store's administrator,
  • optionally an availability and a transaction feed,
  • an idea of where the boxes should go.

Time to go live: connecting your store takes a few minutes. Launching the boxes takes up to 24 hours, because Customize.cz first has to download your products and transaction data.

Administration

In the administration you see impression, click and conversion statistics per box, category, product and customer, a summary for the chosen period, and you can download a PDF report. You also manage box templates, logics and box activation there.

Detailed statistics show how your customers behave: what they visit, where they leave the site and what they click. The data can be connected to your data warehouses. Box variants can be compared with A/B testing or multivariate (MVT) testing.
